"?New Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is believed to have told club officials that he'll need a transfer budget of around £200m in order to overhaul a lacklustre squad and turn the club back into genuine Premier League title challengers.

According to the Daily Mirror, Guardiola, who will now be directly competing against old foe Jose Mourinho across town, sees only three players as his ideal starters - Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho.

Vincent Kompany is not even assured of his place, with the new boss potentially eyeing two new centre-backs, although the club captain does have a chance if he can demonstrate that he is capable of staying fit.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart, who has been linked with a shock £40m move to Everton recently, is also a notable omission. The England international could be deemed surplus to requirement if Guardiola is to go ahead and bring in someone like Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Barcelona.

It is said that the former Bayern Munich coach has informed his Etihad bosses that he wants eight new players as part of a major rebuilding project following the end of Manuel Pellegrini's tenure. There will be strengthening in every area of the pitch.

Rumours continue to circle around the future of Ilkay Gundogan. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is tipped to be the first name through the door, although after a week of various 'confirmation imminent' reports, the German's price tag appears to be steadily dropping.

According to the latest update from the Manchester Evening News, a £17.8m deal. That is noticeably less than the £20m figure being reported earlier this week, which, in turn, was less than the £21.6m that was reported 24 hours earlier.

Yaya Toure is one player everyone thought was guaranteed to be first out of the door. But the latest update on the veteran midfielder, by way of the Guardian, is that he has rejected two huge offers from a pair of Chinese clubs and has no interest in joining Inter Milan.
