Paul Pogba has set himself the eventual target of winning a Ballon d'Or, the most coveted individual prize in world football, brushing shoulders with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Pogba's under no illusion that he's in the same class as Ronaldo and Messi, and realizes that he's got a long way to go to reach his eventual goal.
Ronaldo and Messi have crowded out the Ballon d'Or between themselves since 2007, when Kaka won the elite prize. It's clear why. In the past four seasons, Ronaldo has scored an emphatic 218 goals, whilst Messi has scored 200. Even though Pogba is a midfielder and isn't expected to score too many goals, his 34 goals over four seasons with Juventus just isn't enough for Ballon d'Or pedigree, and the player himself admits this.
When asked about how he may reach his goal, he told "?L'equipe, "Goals for one. Titles too.
""I need to improve my performances during games and be more decisive. Messi and Cristiano score against every team, and not just in one or two seasons, during their whole careers.
"I'd love to win the Ballon d'Or. It's a dream for me"?the thought's always in a corner of my head. I'm not saying I will win it, just that I'd like to.
"?
"?"It's an objective, like winning the Champions League. Some might say I'm crazy, but I like to do crazy things. Anyway, at the moment there are two phenomenal players scoring 60 goals a season."
Maybe a move back to Manchester United will aid Paul Pogba in his career development, and help him realize his dream.
