Paul Ince: Dele Alli Has Everything But Temperament

Published on: 31 May 2016

"?Former MK Dons boss Paul Ince has described parts of Dele Alli's game as 'very immature'.

Ince left his role as manager of the Dons at the end of his second stint in charge of the club in 2010, but frequently watched the youth sides, where he saw Alli.

"I saw quite a bit of Dele when I was managing MK Dons,"? Ince told"? www.fourfourtwo.com.

"You'd watch him for an hour and the potential was clear."

Alli moved to Tottenham for £5m in January 2015, being loaned back to MK Dons and helping them achieve promotion to the Championship.

He's enjoyed another stellar campaign, this time at Premier League level, winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award, as well as being named in the PFA Team of the Year.

Alli has had his doubters about his temperament, however and his suspension after punching West Brom's Claudio Yacob proved to be a telling moment in Tottenham's season as they slumped to third in the league on the final day.

And Paul Ince believes Alli still has to curb that part of his game.

"Some of the stuff Dele does is very immature.

"He makes some silly tackles and he can kick out at people. That's where he's got to learn and improve."

Alli ended the season with 10 goals and nine assists, and has drawn comparisons with Steven Gerrard thanks to his combative style of play, and Ince sees the similarities.

"He's got a similar build, he can tackle, he makes great runs into the box "? he's a goalscoring midfielder, and we don't get too many of those.

"Dele is clever and he's got all the attributes to succeed, because he can do everything."?

Alli is currently training with the England national team, after being included in the final 23-man squad, alongside four other Spurs players.
