Nigeria international Obafemi Martins had a debut to forget in the AFC Champions League after firing blanks in the ninety minutes he spent on the Hongkou Football Stadium turf.

Having said that, the former Inter Milan and Newcastle star was the liveliest Shanghai Shenhua player on the pitch, and had a couple of chances to reduce the deficit.

Martins has UEFA Champions League under his belt and was a non-playing substitute in Seattle Sounders’ 3-0 rout of Vancouver Whitecaps in the CONCACAF version in September 2015.

The 32-year-old is Shanghai Shenhua’s top scorer in pre-season.
