NPFL: Red-Hot IfeanyiUbah Invade Lagos For MFM As Strugglers 3SC Welcome Sunshine

There might be nine matches scheduled for this Sunday in the Nigerian Professional Football League but the clash involving FC IfeanyiUbah and MFM is where all eyes will be focused.

MFM play host to FC IfeanyiUbah at the Agege stadium on Saturday, with the Olukoya Boys in fourth position with an inferior goal difference to their opponents.

FC IfeanyiUbah, to their credit, have fought back from their dreadful start to the season to attain third place and have been impressive, staying unbeaten in their last eight matches, scoring three over Shooting Stars and two goals against Kano Pillars in their last two games.

Yaw Preko’s side will be aiming to go a step further by achieving what any NPFL team have failed to do this season, beating MFM at home. The former Ghaninan international will bank on the likes of Godwin Obaje, King Osanga and Tamen Medrano to hand FC IfeanyiUbah a shock win in Lagos.

Faltering champions Enugu Rangers will attempt to recover from their 4-0 smacking by Abia Warriors, with a resounding win over Nasarawa United.

The Flying Antelopes in their last eight games away have recorded only three points and against Nasarawa United the champions will want to stop this negative trend and the Lafia-based outfit could be the perfect victim. Nasarawa on their part were 2-0 winners at home over Wikki Tourist last weekend.

The Lafia side are yet to win a game away from home this season, recording only three points on the road.

At the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, Shooting Stars will host Sunshine Stars in a South West derby. The Oluyole Warriors are winless in their last three games and they occupy the 19th position, five points below Sunshine Stars. Fatai Amoo’s side will be fired up to avoid another home defeat and the Owena Waves completing a double over them just like FC IfeanyiUbah did a fortnight ago.

Seven-time winners of the NPFL, Enyimba of Aba, face a stern test at home against current league leaders Plateau United who have a superior head-to-head record over the Peoples’ Elephant.

Plateau have won three of the last five meetings against Enyimba, who are ninth in the log. In other fixtures, Kano Pillars will take on Lobi Stars at the Sani Abacha Stadium, while El Kanemi Warriors battle Wikki Tourist in Bauchi.

Remo Stars will be desperate to land their first point after six straight defeats when they host Gombe United in Sagamu; Katsina United will take on Abia Warriors while ABS will battle Niger Tornadoes.

The game between Rivers United and FC Akwa United FC has been rescheduled due to Rivers United’s involvement in the CAF Confederations Cup clash against KCCA from Uganda.
