Nemanja Matic Pushes For Man Utd Move By Informing Antonio Conte of His Desire to Rejoin Mourinho

Chelsea defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic has reportedly held talks with incoming boss, Antonio Conte telling the Italian his desire to join former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, The Sun reports.

The 27-year-old had an underwhelming season compared to his tremendous contributions in Chelsea's title win in 2014 after Mourinho brought the Serbia international back to Stamford Bridge following a spell with Portuguese giants Benfica.

But despite the under par performances, which included a dire showing against Southampton when Mourinho subbed Matic after bringing him on 27 minutes earlier, the Serb looks keen on a reunion.

Reports have suggested the new United boss is just as keen in bringing his former player to Old Trafford in an effort to bring steel back to a midfield lacking in that department.

It is unclear whether Conte would allow a player of Matic's calibre to leave, with his performances in Chelsea's title win still prominent, but what is clear, if reports are to be believed, is that Conte will not be entertaining any offers for winger Willian.

The Brazil international has been the subject of intense speculation over a proposed £60m move to join Mourinho at Manchester United, but the new Italian boss is keen to keep a hold of his star asset.

Willian, like Matic, was just one of a few players who made their disappointment clear when Mourinho was shown the door last December, but Chelsea's player of the year looks to be set to continue for the Blues with reports suggesting the Brazillian could be offered a lucrative new deal.

One signing which does look to have been completed is the signing of Villarreal centre-back Eric Bailly, who was reported to have completed his Old Trafford medical on Tuesday night ahead of his reported £31m move to Manchester United.
