Napoli Interested in Tottenham Midfielder Nabil Bentaleb

"?Italian giants Napoli are reportedly interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, "?according to sources in Italy.

Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Napoli have contacted the North London club, requesting more information on Bentaleb ahead of a possible deal for the 21-year-old.

Bentaleb impressed for Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino during his first season as manager, but endured a difficult second campaign, and played just five times for Spurs last season as he struggled for both fitness and form.

Spurs are currently in the market for a new defensive midfielder, with Southampton's Kenyan international Victor Wanyama thought to be at the top of Pochettino's shopping list this summer.

If Wanyama does make the move to White Hart Lane, and a deal is thought to be close to completion, it puts the future of other Spurs players at risk, including Ryan Mason, Tom Carroll and Bentaleb.

Di Marzio reports that Napoli have requested information on the Algerian, although it is not clear as to whether the enquiry was made to the club or the player's representatives.

After a disappointing season, Pochettino is reportedly keen to get rid of the young midfielder, however it is thought that Napoli would have to come in with a considerably good offer, given that Bentaleb signed a five-year extension on his contract at Spurs last season.

Unless that offer comes in, it appears that Spurs will be hoping that the Algerian rediscovers the form that impressed Pochettino so much last season, especially with the club's Champions League campaign starting next season.
