Milan Confirm They Have Rejected £34m Chelsea Bid for Defender Alessio Romagnoli

Published on: 24 August 2016

"?Chelsea have seen a £34m offer for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli rejected as manager Antonio Conte continues to chase a host of targets before next week's transfer deadline.

#ACMilan has received a significant offer for its player Alessio Romagnoli from @ChelseaFC, but the player is not for sale.

"?Mail Online report that Conte met with the club's officials on Wednesday to lay out his plans for the final week of the window, and he's looking for Chelsea to act fast given they've signed just two new first team players so far this summer - in N'Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi.

However, the Italian side have confirmed on Twitter on Thursday afternoon that they have rejected the offer - and it's believed to be a second bid - for the player, as they say he's not for sale.

Romagnoli, 21, joined from Roma for £21m last summer, but Chelsea are willing to hand Milan what would end up being a healthy margin of profit in order to get their hands on a new centre back.

Conte has identified the position as his main priority to strengthen before the end of the window, and has been linked with Torino's Nikola Maksimovi? and Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly recently.

Chelsea are looking to sign either a forward or a creative attacker in addition, and it's also looking like they will sign a new goalkeeper - and his identity has already been revealed.

There has been no announcement from the club yet, but Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Eduardo has revealed he is joining the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Speaking to "?Dinamo's official website, he said after the extra-time victory over Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League qualifiers on Wednesday: "At the same time I am happy and sad. This was a beautiful story, but I got a chance to go to a big club. It is the opportunity of lifetime and I think I deserve it.

"I am leaving Dinamo with the club qualified for the Champions League and I am thrilled with that success. I hope people will remember me in Zagreb as a person that always gave his best for the club and the fans and that everyone will keep a nice memory of me.

"I sure will have great memories of Dinamo and Zagreb and all people I played and worked with here."
