Mesut Ozil Finally Comments on Speculation Over Potential Move to Bayern Munich

Published on: 31 May 2016

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has spoken for the first time on speculation linking him with a summer move to Bayern Munich, but insisted he knows nothing about a potential move to the Allianz Arena.

Ozil, who is on international duty with Germany ahead of Euro 2016, told "?TZ that he is only focused on the upcoming competition at the moment, and not his club future."? He expressed that once the tournament in France is over, he will sit down with Arsenal officials to discuss his future with the club.

The 27-year-old, who has also been linked with Barcelona, said: "I know nothing about the speculation. I'll focus first on the national team. After Euro 2016 I'll hold talks (with Arsenal) because Arsenal are my first port of call. My contract still has two more years to run."

Ozil was quick to then turn his attention to international matters, and was appreciative of a short break afforded to the German national team by coach Joachim Low after a tough end to the club calendar.

He said: "The week off has been good. It was good that the coach has lessened the load somewhat during the first days. But now I am looking forward to the competition

"In a (pre-tournament) training camp, it's not easy to deal with free time. Every player wants the tournament to begin. Euro 2016 is a huge stage, everyone wants to be there."

Germany have a number of players who won trophies at club level recently in their squad, and Ozil admitted that it could help his side in France.

He added: "This ultimately helps us as a team, because they come with a positive feeling. We have a good mix: young, hungry for success and experienced players. We see that we are one and feel the energy. We're all feeling positive. We want to win the trophy in Paris."
