M'Baye Niang Reveals He Rejected 2012 Moves to Arsenal & Everton in Favour of AC Milan

"?M'Baye Niang has revealed that Arsenal and Everton both attempted to sign him before his 2012 move to AC Milan.

"?The striker confirmed rumours of interest from the two Premier League sides when he was just 17 years old.

Back in 2012, "?Niang claimed that he had spent 'hours' discussing a move to the Gunners with manager Arsene Wenger, while "?the Toffees had allegedly agreed a £2m deal with Niang's former club Caen to bring the talented youngster to Goodison Park.

However, the now 21-year-old decided to head to Serie A instead - but insisted he still harbours ambitions of playing in England's top flight.

He said: "The Premier League could've been the right football for me and I hope one day it will be. Playing there is my dream as it suits my style of play.

"I could've been there twice already. The first was when I chose Milan, even if Caen had already accepted offers from Arsenal and Everton (in 2012)."

Niang also stated that reigning Premier League champions Leicester City had tried to sway him into joining them in January in a £14m transfer, but his current employers rejected their advances in favour of keeping him at the San Siro.

He continued: "The second (opportunity to move to England) was in January, two or three days before the derby (with Inter Milan).

"My agent called and said Leicester had made an offer to Milan, but the club didn't want me to go."

And, when pressed on why he spurned the Foxes' advances, Niang said he was told that he would have to play second fiddle to current first-choice striker Jamie Vardy.

He added: "I have no regrets (about not moving). Even after Leicester won the Premier League title, they wanted to make me the 'reserve Vardy'.

"They are full of money, and I may have been paid £17m-a-year in wages, but then maybe I would not play. "
