Massimiliano Allegri Slams 'Blasphemers' Who Have Criticised Juve Stopper Gianluigi Buffon

"?Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has slammed the 'blasphemers' who have criticised legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi in the wake of an error the 38-year-old made while in action for Italy against Spain during the international break.

The Juve star's misjudging of the ball allowed Spanish forward Vitolo to score in a 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw, but Allegri believes people have no right to question Buffon after everything that he has achieved in his incredible career.

"It is blasphemy to criticise Buffon after an error at his feet after he has only made three, four, five errors in total (in his career)," a less than pleased Allegri said as he faced the media on Friday.

"Buffon's record speaks for itself, after what he has done in the last 20 years. It was an error that any goalkeeper could make," he added.

Buffon himself dismissed the critics at the time almost immediately and his mind will now be firmly focused on this weekend's Serie A clash against Udinese in Turin.

Allegri is not only hoping for the three points from the game, but is also already looking at how it might affect the title race further down the line, as well as the importance of getting a good result at the start of a very congested run for the team.

"Three points are an absolute must tomorrow, not only because Roma and Napoli meeting earlier in the day will give us the chance to steal a march on at least one of our title rivals but also since Saturday's is the first of seven big matches in 22 days and it will be great to build some momentum after a stop-start opening to the campaign," the boss explained.

"The first game after the international break is always the toughest as teams can sometimes catch you off guard. When you have players returning having travelled long distances, it can be difficult to pick up from where you left off so we'll need to approach Udinese with caution."
