Marseille have put the Premier League's top clubs on red alert by confessing they are preparing to cash in on hotshot striker Michy Batshuayi, the "?Evening Standard report.

Marseille have endured a dramatic fall from grace this season, and they are struggling to keep up with their rivals, but Batshuayi's goals have helped them beat the dreaded drop.

The 22-year-old has scored 17 times in 36 Ligue 1 appearances this season and he signed a new deal back in January that keeps him tied down to the Stade Velodrome until 2020.

However, Les Olympiens are struggling financially and they are now ready to spark a bidding war for his services in the summer.

Speaking about the Belgian hitman's future, Marseille's interim manager Franck Passi said: "Everybody knows that he will leave. It is included in the accounts that Michy will be sold this summer.

"We will accept it. We know why players leave Marseille, the financials are not so enticing, we have to accept it."

Arsenal fans will be urging Arsene Wenger to swoop for Batshuayi after Danny Welbeck was ruled out for nine months with a horror knee injury, but Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has already publicly confessed his admiration for the striker.

West Ham are also sniffing around Batshuayi and if he impresses at the European Championships with Belgium this summer then his value will skyrocket, so interested parties need to act quickly.
