Mario Gotze Refuses to Comment on Transfer Speculation Until After Euro 2016

Published on: 29 May 2016

"?Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze has refused to be drawn on speculation surrounding his future, insisting his focus is on Germany's upcoming Euro 2016 campaign.

The 23-year-old made just 11 starts last season in the Bundesliga, with injury playing a big factor in his lack of appearances, but the former Borussia Dortmund star hasn't always been a regular in his three years at the Allianz Arena.

And a disappointing 2015/16 season has opened the door to a move away from Bayern and specifically to Liverpool to reunite with former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp has made no secret of his desire to overhaul much of his under-performing Reds and landing Gotze would be seen as something of a coup, with Klopp and Gotze winning two Bundesliga crowns and a German Cup during their time together at the Signal Iduna Park.

"?The Daily Mail suggests that former club Dortmund are also in for their former star, with boss Thomas Tuchel keen to keep the 2014 World Cup winner in Germany.

Gotze has spoken of his interest in working with new Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti in the past, but ahead of the European Championships in France his future is not up for discussion.

"I've said everything about this," reported FourFourTwo. "Now I'm at the Euros and don't want to say anything about this."

Gotze is perhaps seen as more integral to Germany than he is to Bayern Munich, with manager Joachim Low frequently using Gotze as a false nine or in a variety of attacking positions.

Gotze played 90 minutes as Germany lost 3-1 to Slovakia on Sunday, with Saturday's game against Hungary Die Mannschaft's last game before they head to France.
