Marc Overmars in Line to Become Everton's New Director of Football

Published on: 21 May 2016

"?Former Arsenal and Barcelona winger Marc Overmars could be set for a Premier League return with Everton in a Director of Football role, according to a report by the "?Daily Mail.

2016 has been a year of change and adaptation for Everton. Spanish manager Roberto Martinez was sacked following a disappointing campaign, while billionaire Farhad Moshiri became the majority shareholder at the club - "?promising to make £100m available for players in the summer.

And the trend looks set to continue, with an almighty shake-up in the hierarchy of the club. The first port of call, after appointing a new manager of course, will be appointing a new 'Director of Football'.

Joe Royle has been named as a potential candidate, which would be fitting considering his history with the club. Royle is currently the professional development coordinator for the youth set-up at the club and would be suited to the new role.

However, with Marc Overmars having experience as Ajax's Director of Football, the Toffees may look to the Dutchman to fulfil the role.

The once pacy winger could bring another Ajax man with him to Goodison Park, with Frank De Boer "?heavily linked with a move to Merseyside as the new Everton manager.
