Manchester United Set to Skip FA Cup Open Top Bus Parade Should They Win at Wembley

"?Manchester United will not hold an FA Cup victory parade aboard an open top bus if they bring the trophy home from Wembley this weekend. That's despite it potentially being the club's first piece of major silverware since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.

Most fans feel that even FA Cup triumph for the first time since 2004 wouldn't be enough to save what they perceive as being a miserable season. But rather than worries over a backlash for celebrating, it appears to be logistics that have stopped the club.

According to the Manchester Evening News, who cite 'club sources', United did not even bother approaching the city council for permission to hold a victory parade because of certain circumstances.

England are due to face Turkey across town at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in a Euro 2016 warm-up game, which would have made policing an additional event that would have seen thousands of people flock to Old Trafford a stretch.

Delaying by a day or two, United would then have encountered different problems because a number of key players wouldn't have been able to attend, rendering any event they could have put on somewhat anti-climactic.

With the majority of players across the continent having already met up for training camps ahead of next month's European Championships, United's internationals are late for duty as it is. As such, the likes of Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney, David de Gea and a number of others will be off again almost as soon as they return from London.
