"?"?The Daily Mirror has reported that Manchester United have been knocked back in their surprise pursuit of Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny.
New United manager Jose Mourinho is keen on bolstering his backline after finally agreeing to taking charge at Old Trafford last week.
Centre-half Koscielny was believed to have been one of a number of signings that the Red Devils were looking to sign during the summer transfer window.
However, Arsenal are said to have blocked any attempts by their Premier League rivals to make a bid for the France international.
Koscielny, who has been a member of manager Arsene Wenger's squad for six seasons, is also believed to have no interest in leaving London in favour of Manchester.
The 30-year-old joined the Gunners from FC Lorient in July 2010 for a fee in the region of £10m.
The defender has gone on to become a key player in Wenger's starting eleven, making 248 appearances in all competitions and scoring 20 goals since making his debut during the 2010/11 season.
Koscielny has won two FA Cups and a FA Community Shield during his time at the Emirates, and has also been handed the captain's armband on occasion in the absence of midfielders Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla.
Koscielny is also part of manager Didier Deschamp's 23-man France national team squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 Championships.
The competition, which kick off on June 10, is due to be held in Koscielny's home nation, and he is expected to start in the heart of the host's defence for the tournament opener against Romania in a week's time.
