Manchester United Interested in Roma Midfielder Miralem Pjanic

"?Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is looking to bolster his midfield at Old Trafford by "?securing the signature of Roma's Miralem Pjanic.

The 26-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international has been at Roma for the past five years after joining from Olympique Lyonnais in France for €11m.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Mourinho is looking for four quality additions to his side ahead of next season's push for United's first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, and has identified Pjanic, who is also a free-kick specialist, as his number one priority.

The player is currently under contract at the Italian capital until 2018, and United's interest could convince Roma to cash in on the player this summer.

His acquisition would also cast doubt over Juan Mata's status at the club, given their similarities and the fact that Mata was sold by Mourinho when they were both at Chelsea because the Spaniard didn't suit the Portuguese coaches' style of play.

Pjanic made his mark against Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in 2014 in Denver, Colorado in the United States, where he lobbed goalkeeper Ben Amos from the halfway line in a 3-2 victory for Roma.

If signed, Pjanic would also be available for United's pre-season training on July 4th, as Bosnia failed to qualify for the European Championships.

Pjanic scored ten league goals last season as La Maggica secured third place in Serie A to claim a Champions League playoff spot. Juventus, Barcelona and PSG are also thought to be looking at the midfielder.
