Manchester City Believed to Be in Advanced Talks Over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Deal

Manchester City are believed to be in 'advanced talks' with Borussia Dortmund over a possible deal for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang just a week after the Bundesliga side allowed Ilkay Gundogan to trade Westfalenstadion for the Etihad Stadium.

Aubameyang has been heavily linked with a variety of Europe's top clubs in recent months, even expressing a desire to play for Real Madrid some day. It was only last week that former team-mate Daniel Cousin was urging him to join Arsenal.

">Sky Sports News have revealed that it is Pep Guardiola's City who are making real headway. The new boss is widely believed to want to bring in as many as eight fresh faces as he prepares the squad to challenge for the Premier League title after falling so far short in 2015/16.

If City officials are able to go ahead and complete what would be a stunning deal and a real statement of intent, Aubameyang would bring support and competition for Sergio Aguero. It would also likely confirm the end of Wilfreid Bony's time at the club.

Aubameyang has been in fine form ever since establishing himself as a regular at Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1 back in 2011. A total of 39 goals in two seasons prompted Dortmund to sign him in 2013 and the player has seen his goal return increase each season he's been in Germany.

The Gabonese international scored 25 times in 29 Bundesliga appearances during the 2015/16 campaign, while he netted on 36 occasions in all competitions.

A pair of centre-backs, a pair of full-backs, a goalkeeper and a winger are the positions still thought to now be on Guardiola's summer wish-list.
