Man Utd Turn Attention to £32.5m AS Roma Defender Kostas Manolas as Lindelof Deal Stalls

"?Manchester United are preparing a £32.5m bid for AS Roma central defender Kostas Manolas, "?according to reports in the "?Sun.

The Red Devils have turned their attention to the Greek defender after a potential switch for Benfica's Victor Lindelof has faltered over a price hike.

Manolas, 25, is a first-team regular for Roma, meaning that the Serie A club will be reluctant to sell.

He won't be sold on the cheap as a result, with United reportedly launching a £32.5m bid for the physical centre-half.

"?In September it emerged that United were one of the clubs, along with Chelsea, that were keeping tabs on Manolas, with both clubs expected to launch a January bid.

Jose Mourinho appears to have made a "?huge U-turn on the signing of Victor Lindelof earlier this week after negotiations over price stalled and the upturn in form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo. However, some sources in the Portuguese media "?claim that a £38m deal is in place.

The Swedish defender has been left out of Benfica's last two squads, with many expecting him to link up with fellow Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford this January.
