Man Utd Set to Sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Hope to Finalise Deal Before Euro 2016

"?Manchester United are reportedly set to wrap up a deal to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic sooner rather than later, possibly even before the start of Euro 2016 next week. The Swedish superstar will become a free agent when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires at the end of the month.

According to sources at Sky Sports, the finer details of a 12-month contract are being discussed with Ibrahimovic and his representatives. The 34-year-old will then become Jose Mourinho's first signing since taking over as United manager.

Sweden are due to begin their Euro campaign on 13th June against the Republic of Ireland.

The report from Sky goes on to suggest that Mourinho is not keen to sign any further strikers this summer, leaving room for teenage striker Marcus Rashford to continue flourishing after being handed an opportunity by Louis van Gaal last season.

In what will no doubt be a huge relief to fans concerned about the new manager's reputation for sidelining young players in favour of established stars, it is said that Mourinho is 'convinced' that Rashford will be a success in 2016/17.

It is even said that United passed on the opportunity to pursue Jamie Vardy, now thought to be in talks with Arsenal over a £20m move, in a bid to ensure that Rashford gets the chances he needs to further aid his rapid development.

In Ibrahimovic, the home-grown teenager will soon have one of the greatest strikers of the last 20 years to look up to. The same goes for Anthony Martial, who is still only just out of his teens.

On Friday afternoon, the French international had said, "Zlatan is a good player and a great striker. He would improve us with his experience."

Ibrahimovic scored 50 goals in 51 games in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain in 2015/16, powering the French club to a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title. For the player himself, it was an incredible ninth league title in the last 10 years.

Formerly of Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona and Milan, Ibrahimovic is believed to have turned down lucrative offers from China to move to Old Trafford. He also recently denied that he would be making a return to Malmo, the place where it all began.
