"?Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches rose to fame after his astonishing performances last season, which didn't even really begin until after November.
In a very short space of time, the 19-year-old went from a relatively unknown player to being rated as the best youngster in Europe. It's no wonder that Manchester United wanted to shell out a very large sum to bring him to Old Trafford, but unfortunately, despite reports claiming that a deal had already been agreed, the player moved to the Bundesliga side.
More misery was heaped on United after the player proved an absolute star for Portugal at Euro 16, ultimately winning the trophy with his country.
Former Red Devils defender Rio Ferdinand knows just how much the club missed out on, and insists that the player would have never been allowed to slip through their grasps if he were employed at United.
The erstwhile England international claims that he would have personally dragged the player to Old Trafford by his hair.
"If I was a Man United scout, Renato Sanches would already be at the club,"? Ferdinand said to A Bola.
"I'd have dragged him by his hair and said "?let's go!'
"Renato is a modern player: Aggressive, strong, powerful, got technique, can shoot and pass. I like him. He's young, but takes responsibility."?
Sanches has endured a tough time since starting the term with Bayern, though, and has been struggling with both injuries and playing time.
So far, he has made five appearances with no goals and no assists. But given his talent, he should pick up as long as he plays consistently.
