Lukas Podolski Hilariously Explains Joachim Löw's Ball-Scratching Antics

Published on: 13 June 2016

"?Germany manager Joachim Löw must not have been privy to the dozens of cameras covering every inch of action in his side's opening 2-0 win over Ukraine in the European championship.

That seems to be the only way to explain how Löw he went, scratching his front and rear and then sniffing his fingers, all while the cameras were on him.

"?"?The incident has received so much attention that veteran Germany international Lukas Podolski was quizzed on the topic and he made sure to cover Löw's back - pun intended - with his brilliant reply.

"It's nothing special," he told reporters. "I think 80 percent of you and me have scratched our balls at some point."

That may be so, Lukas, but none of us happened to be the manager of the reigning world champions, playing at a major European tournament, in a packed stadium with countless cameramen looking for the next great clip to air in their highlight reels.

Besides hand sanitiser, Löw will likely be happiest that he brought Podolski with him to France even if he has accepted a bit part role for the national side.

At least he has proven useful as a mascot and with his dealing with the press in this very sensitive and private matter.
