Want-away Everton forward Romelu Lukaku has admitted he came close to joining Juventus in the past, and confessed a desire to join a Champions League club.
The Belgian international is expected to leave Merseyside this summer, with Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and even former club Chelsea touted as potential destinations.
“In the past, during my spell at West Bromwich Albion, I came one step away from joining Juventus,” Lukaku told So Foot. “Mino Raiola told me that first I needed to become more aggressive on the field.
“I am ambitious; I want to win trophies; like all players represented by Raiola, like [Paul] Pogba and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic.”
Continuing to discuss his Champions League triumph with Chelsea in 2012, the 23-year-old powerhouse expressed his desire to play in Europe’s most prestigious club competition again.
“I won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012 but I did not want to touch the trophy,” he added. “I did not contribute to the success.
“I want to play for a club in the Champions League, for sure.”
