Liverpool's Jordan Henderson Is Leaving the Rest of the Premier League in His Dust With This Stat

Published on: 25 September 2016

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has enjoyed a fine start to the new Premier League season under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp and is leading the way in the division in terms of passing completion so far.

Henderson has successfully made 499 passes so far, almost 100 more than the next most prolific passer in the league, Leicester's Danny Drinkwater with 403.

Santi Cazorla has found teammates with his passes on 399 occasions, while new Everton signing is proving that he wasn't the problem at Aston Villa last season having made 398.

Despite Manchester City's dominance in possession during their games, Fernandinho is the top Etihad star with 396, 103 fewer than Henderson.

The 26-year-old's ability to dictate passing has certainly surprised a few.

"Look how Hendo played the "?6' where a lot of people, I think, were pretty sure he cannot play a holding position and he is," Klopp said after Liverpool's win over Hull at the weekend.

Chelsea trio N'Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesar Azpilicueta also feature in the top 10, as do Manchester United's Paul Pogba and Aleksandar Kolarov of Manchester City - the Serbian international has excelled with the ball whilst filling in at centre-back this season.

No other Liverpool players come close to matching Henderson's passing output so far, although Georginio Wijnaldum (331) and James Milner (329) both feature in the Premier League's top 20 - 16th and 17th and respectively.
