Liverpool Want Burnley to Host August Meeting in Premier League

Published on: 14 June 2016

"?Liverpool have requested that Burnley host the game at their Turf Moor stadium instead of Anfield for their early-season meeting in the Premier League, according to "?Sky Sports.

They report that the Merseyside club are confident that their construction work to increase the capacity at the stadium will be finished if needed, but another week without playing there would ensure that any issues can be ironed out.

The return fixture at Turf Moor has been pencilled in for March 11th, which would mean that Burnley face the daunting prospect of having four consecutive away games over the course of late February and March.

The full Premier League fixture lists were released on Wednesday, and after requesting an away game to start their campaign with, Liverpool travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal on 13th August.

The club have an extremely tricky start to the season with games against Tottenham, champions Leicester and Chelsea all in the first month of the season.

However, this will be helped by the fact that the Europa League final loss and eighth place finish in the Premier League means that the club are without any European football next season, and can completely concentrate on domestic competitions.

The first Merseyside derby with Everton takes place on 17th December at Goodison Park, whilst the return game is set for April 1st.

This will be the chance for Jurgen Klopp's men to take on Ronald Koeman at Everton, who is expected to have a sizeable transfer budget for this summer's window.

Other key fixtures include the matches against old foes Manchester United - at Anfield on 17th October and Old Trafford on 14th January
