Liverpool Reportedly Accept Lucas Leiva Loan Offer From Serie A Giants

Liverpool are believed to have accepted an offer from Inter Milan to take back-up midfielder Lucas Leiva on loan. It could mark the end of the Brazilian's time at Anfield as his contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the ball is now in Inter's court as to whether a deal for Lucas is completed or not when the January transfer window opens next week.

Should Lucas, who is Liverpool's longest serving player after first making the move to Merseyside from Gremio in 2007, make the switch to Italy, he is likely to be formally released by the Reds in summer.

The 29-year-old was a signing for former boss Rafa Benitez and has played over 300 games in the last nine-and-a-half seasons. He doesn't form part of Jurgen Klopp's plans, though, and has only been used sparingly since the German took over last October.

Linked with Inter in the past, as well as Galatasaray in Turkey, Lucas has only played in the Premier League as a make-shift centre-back to stand in for others so far in 2016/17.
