"?Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention in the transfer market to Southampton's Sadio Mane after missing out on the signature of Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze.
The Express report that the Reds are ready to lodge a £25m offer to sign another of Southampton's star men, having already signed the likes of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Rickie Lambert from their Premier League rivals in the past.
Klopp is looking to boost his options in attack and was initially looking to reunite with former cohort Gotze, who was reported to be unhappy with a lack of playing time with the German champions. However, with Carlo Ancelotti to take charge of the Bavarian outfit in the coming weeks, Gotze has decided to stay and fight for his place for another season.
Gotze is quoted as saying in German newspaper Bild recently: "I look forward to the new season in Munich and will do everything possible to compete in top shape during my first training under Carlo Ancelotti."
That decision leaves Liverpool looking at other targets, and their attention has now turned to the pacy Senegalese forward. Mane cost the Saints £11.8m from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 and has shown his ability to take apart Premier League defences since arriving in England. Most notably, he scored the fastest ever Premier League hat-trick in just two minutes and 56 seconds against Aston Villa.
Saints are looking to recoup more than double what they paid for the player however, and Liverpool have now emerged as his primary suitors despite heavy interest from the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United in the past.
That's right, Liverpool are in for another Southampton player...this time it's Sadio Mane. https://t.co/ofj3xNqU5T
