Liverpool Offer Lazar Markovic to Galatasaray for £20m

"?Liverpool have reportedly offered winger Lazar Markovic to Galatasaray for £20m.

Turkish website "?Fotospor claims that club is interested in signing the Liverpool man, who spent the season on loan with rivals Fenerbahce.

Markovic joined the Reds from Benfica in 2014, under Brendan Rodgers, who paid just under £20m to the Portuguese outfit for his services. But things didn't work out as planned for the player, and he was sent out on a season-long loan last August.

With the season now over, Markovic will be returning to Liverpool. He sent out a tweet to Fenerbahce and their fans, insisting that it was a pleasure to play for the club.

He posted: "It was pleasure to play for u Fenerbahce .Thanks to everybody!"

"?"?From all indications, Liverpool aren't ready to give him a chance at Anfield, which doesn't seem at all fair, as he was played out of position - often as a wing-back - by Rodgers.

His time at Fenerbahce, though, wasn't productive either. The 22-year-old could only manage a meager tally of one goal and two assists in 18 appearances for the club.

Jurgen Klopp is aiming to hit the heights with the Reds next season, and probably does not consider Markovic good enough to aid his cause.

The club has been linked with several big names, including Mario Gotze, who played under Klopp back at Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

While Galatasaray are keen on making the Serbian their player, the move won't go down well with Fenerbahce or their supporters, given the intense rivalry the two Turkish clubs share.
