Liverpool have made an approach for Aston Villa full back Jordan Amavi, according to "?L'Équipe"?.
The Frenchman joined the recently relegated Villa last summer, but Liverpool have identified the promising youngster as a possible target as they look to find competition for the much-criticised Alberto Moreno.
Amavi had an impressive spell in the Villa first team in the first half of last season, but was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in November, while representing France's U-21s against Northern Ireland.
The 22-year-old is set to return to action for the new season, but in all likelihood will not feature in England's second-tier with his current side. Liverpool are one of a host of clubs interested in bringing him in, and they are reported to have declared to the player's representative that they want the player at Anfield.

The likes of AC Milan and Lyon are also interested - along with another unnamed French side - but Amavi stated in a recent interview that he believes the Premier League is the best place for a footballer to play.
Speaking to France Football, he said: "If some people thought I had hopes to go to France team, I have primarily gone to England because I liked this championship. (Regarding a call up to) the France team, it will come when it will come. Now I want to string together a full season.
"For me, (the Premier League) is the best championship, all the matches are great to play. I adapted well, and it's too bad it did not last long this season. But I have no regrets having signed for Villa."
