Liverpool in Talks With Jonas Hector After Agreeing Fee With FC Cologne

"?Liverpool are understood to have agreed a fee with Bundesliga side FC Cologne for their star left-back Jonas Hector, and are currently in talks with the player, according to a report in "?This is Anfield


The 26-year-old, who is currently preparing for the European Championships in France later this month, had previously been made available for around £12m, and speculation over his departure had intensified after the German outfit signed left-back Filip Mladenovic in January.

"Cologne already reacted to Jonas' potential transfer with the signing of Mladenovic,"? said Hector's agent back in March.


"Upon consultation with FC Cologne we are allowed to talk to interested clubs,"? he added.


Hector is first choice left-back for Germany and has also appeared in midfield for Cologne, making 32 league appearances last season and providing four assists. He is dubbed by the German media 'Mr Reliable' and has long been hailed for his performances, achieving the Cologne fans' player of the year in 2013/14. 


In March, Hector scored his first goal for Germany in their 4-1 rout of Italy and has accrued 13 international caps thus far. 


Current Reds and former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp had long been expected to strengthen his squad with additions from the Bundesliga, such is his knowledge of the league, and has already signed defender Joel Matip from Schalke and goalkeeper Loris Karius from Mainz.
