Liverpool Favourites to Sign Aston Villa's Jordan Amavi as New Ligue 1 Club Joins Pursuit

"?Liverpool are in pole position to sign Aston Villa's Jordan Amavi and have contacted the player's representatives over a possible transfer, according to "?Sport Witness.

The Merseyside club, however, face competition with Bastia the latest Ligue 1 club interested in acquiring the services of Amavi on loan, according to "?Made in Foot.

Marseille are also said to be interested in signing Amavi, while the 22-year-old has been linked with a move to both AS Monaco and Lyon in recent weeks.

But the opportunity to play for Liverpool on a permanent deal and work under Jurgen Klopp could tempt the France U21 international to stay put in England.

Liverpool are rumoured to be in the market for a left-back after a string of poor performances from Alberto Moreno, and "?L'Equipe report that the Europa League finalists would have to pay around £11m for Amavi.

Amavi was signed in the summer of 2015 for £8.25m from Nice but missed the majority of Aston Villa's abysmal Premier League campaign after suffering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Amavi was tipped to make Didier Deschamps' France squad for the Euros despite moving to England with no senior caps under his belt.

Now with Roberto Di Matteo in charge in charge of Aston Villa and the club under new ownership after Dr Tony Xia's takeover, there could be a lot of departures at Villa Park with Amavi being one of them.
