Liverpool Face Transfer Battle With Barcelona for Borussia Dortmund Star Christian Pulisic

"?Liverpool face competition for the signature of Christian Pulisic after Barcelona reportedly entered the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund star.

"?Mundo Deportivo claims that the Catalan giants are monitoring the 18-year-old's situation at the Westfalonstadion, but Barcelona face having to contend with a transfer battle from the Reds if they decide to make a move for Pulisic in the near future.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the United States international, and attempted to entice former club Dortmund into selling their prized asset during the summer transfer window.

However, despite "?bidding around £10.5m for Pulisic at the end of August, the Bundesliga club refused to do business with Liverpool, with Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc revealing that the offer had not been sufficient enough for them to part with Pulisic.

The "?Liverpool Echo has also reported that Klopp has informed his scouting team at Anfield to continue to keep tabs on Pulisic with the view to returning to Dortmund with an improved offer at some point in the next few transfer windows.

With Mundo Deportivo now alleging that Barcelona are also eyeing the possibility of a raid for Pulisic, however, Liverpool could end up being priced out of a move for the midfielder.

Pulisic is considered to be one of the hottest prospects in Europe at the present time. The attacking midfielder has risen to prominence in Germany ever since he made his debut as a 68th minute substitute in January's 2-0 Bundesliga win over FC Ingolstadt.

Primarily a central player who is also comfortable playing across the forward line, Pulisic went on to feature 11 more times for Dortmund last term, and bagged his first two senior goals in the 3-0 victories over Hamburg and Stuttgart in April.

Pulisic has played in eight of Dortmund's 10 games so far in 2016/17, and has bagged one goal and four assists from the right wing for Thomas Tuchel's men, including laying on a goal for Andre Schurrle in the 2-2 Champions League home draw with La Liga giants Real Madrid.
