Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Takes Issue With Reds Fans After Telling Them to Stop Singing His Name

Published on: 10 September 2016

Extremely popular amongst his previous club's supporters, former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has found his popularity hasn't waned in the slightest since taking charge of his current club Liverpool"?.

Indeed, Klopp is the rare case of a manager who tends to also find favour with fans outside of his own club, so you can imagine how revered he is inside Anfield.

Nevertheless, it appears that when it comes to fans chanting his name, Klopp isn't interested. Not until the game's over anyway.

As reported by "?GMS (GIVEMESPORT), in his post-match conference following Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Leicester City, Klopp shared his thoughts on hearing his name sung during matches:

"I have to say, because I don't know how else I can say this, please don't sing my name before the game is decided!

''Immediately when the Kop started signing 'Jurgen Klopp la la la' they were clear on Simon Mignolet.

"It's like celebrating a penalty before you have scored!''

During the game itself, Klopp tried to get his point across by 'shushing' the supporters and pointing to his watch - if that was perhaps a little too subtle, now that he's made his feelings explicitly clear, we'll wait and see what happens next (but it's not hard to hazard a guess!).

Following that resounding victory against last season's Premier League champions, the German's ideas for his new-look Liverpool side appear to be taking shape.

It remains to be seen exactly where they'll end up this season, but what's certain is Klopp's name will soon be chanted loud and proud, whether he likes it or not.
