"?Liverpool have had a bid rejected by Bundesliga club Schalke 04 for their star winger Leroy Sane, according to "?This is Anfield, and are debating whether to make a second bid for the 20-year-old.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to be active in the transfer market this summer, and is expected to clear out many of his under-performing charges, with Jerome Sinclair having left the club to join Watford and "?Jordon Ibe's future looking increasingly tenuous.
The German had long been expected to conduct the brunt of his transfer activities in the Bundesliga and true to form, the former Borussia Dortmund coach has already recruited the likes of defender Joel Matip from Schalke and goalkeeper Loris Karius from Mainz.
Sane impressed with nine goals and seven assists to his name across all competitions in 44 appearances, earning his first cap for the German national team in the process back in November.
Sane is a product of the esteemed Schalke academy which has produced a number of prominent German footballers including Manuel Neuer, Mesut Özil and Julian Draxler.
Despite the Anfield club getting to two finals, namely the League and Europa League Cup, and losing both, Klopp will be confident that with a full pre-season behind him, and the opportunity to mould the team, the Reds can improve on their eighth place finish.
As a result, Liverpool will not partake in a European competition next season and will expect the lack of distraction to see them launch a Premier League title charge.
