Liverpool Aim to Seal Mario Gotze Deal by End of the Week

"?Liverpool are intent on sealing a deal for Bayern Munich's midfield maestro Mario Gotze before the European Championships, and it could be completed as early as this week.

Jurgen Klopp is keen on a reunion with the player who flourished under his tutelage at Borussia Dortmund and a £20m swoop is being lined up.

Since controversially moving to the Allianz Arena back in 2013, Gotze has flattered to deceive and he has struggled to make an impact on the Bavarians' first-team squad.

The Reds are willing to offer the 23-year-old an escape route and"? the Sun are reporting that they want to secure his services by the end of the week.

Injuries and a loss of form have resulted in the World Cup winner being limited to 14 appearances in the Bundesliga this season, and he missed Bayern's DFB-Pokal victory over BVB on Saturday with a broken rib.

However, Klopp believes he can restore Gotze's confidence and that the crafty midfielder will help propel Liverpool up the table.

The Reds' enigmatic coach wants to complete his transfer business early on to avoid any disappointment and he has already captured Schalke's towering defender Joel Matip.

With Adam Bodgan set to leave the club, FSV Mainz's highly-rated goalkeeper Loris Karius is being touted as a replacement and a £4.7m bid has been lodged for his services.
