Leicester Lining Up Troy Deeney as Arsenal-Bound Jamie Vardy's Replacement

Leicester City are lining up Troy Deeney to replace Jamie Vardy, "?the Sun report.

The Foxes are desperately trying to cling onto their talismanic striker, but Arsenal have lodged a £20m bid for his services.

Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the predatory attacker and is prepared to offer him a 50 per cent rise on his £80,000 a week contract to convince him to move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners want to wrap up the deal before Vardy jets off to France with England for the European Championships and Leicester have already drawn up a list of potential replacements.

Deeney tops Claudio Ranieri's wishlist because he was an instrumental figure in helping Watford avoid the drop.

The burly hitman collected 13 goals in the Premier League last season and he would flourish at the King Power Stadium, feeding off service from the likes of Danny Drinkwater, Marc Albrighton and Christian Fuchs.

However, even if Leicester convince Vardy to do a dramatic u-turn they are still keen to bolster their ranks by capturing the Hornets skipper.

The dust has barely settled on the Foxes' incredible title triumph but the Premier League's vultures are already poaching their best talent as it's being reported that Arsenal are also in talks with Riyad Mahrez.

With doubts surrounding the futures of Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil, the PFA Player of the Year would sprinkle some star-quality amongst the Gunners squad and Wenger wants to seal the deal as soon as possible.
