Leicester City Stopper Kasper Schmeichel in Line to Face Liverpool on Saturday

Published on: 05 September 2016

"?Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel could be available for the defending champion's clash with Liverpool on Saturday, despite having surgery just last week.

Schmeichel underwent a hernia operation last Monday, but was back in the gym by Wednesday, working hard on his recovery.

With a trip to Anfield coming up, the stopper is intent on regaining full fitness ahead of the match as Leicester hope to win their second game of the season, having dropped points in their first two matches and winning the third.

Schmeichel had hoped to represent Denmark on Sunday night, but was disappointed not to make the cut. However, Claudio Ranieri could include him in the squad to face the Reds on the weekend.

He took to Instagram to provide fans with an update on his fitness, going through core and running drills, as well as ball work.

"?"?The posts should serve as great encouragement to Leicester fans, who will want to see the stopper back between the sticks for the Foxes at the soonest. He played a huge part in their title success last season, and losing him for an extended period would be a huge blow.

From the looks of things, Schmeichel should be back in action pretty soon. If the Liverpool game comes to quickly for him, he should definitely be back by the time Leicester face Burnley on the following Saturday.

The champions also have an important EFL Cup clash against Chelsea coming up after the Burnley game that will be followed up by a visit to Old Trafford to play Manchester United.
