"?Tottenham striker Harry Kane has insisted that himself, Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney can play well together despite a poor performance last night against Portugal.
The striker was taken off after 78 minutes following a frustrating game that saw him taking a number of set pieces for England, baffling fans and pundits alike. According to "?ESPN, Kane believes that the three just need more time to gel as a unit ahead of Euro 2016.
"It's one game -- it isn't going to happen overnight," said Kane. "We've been asked to play with each other today and we won the game. We wanted a few more chances and a few more shots at goal but it's something we're working on. We can't get too downhearted. It's a positive performance and a positive result.
"We're still working on stuff. That's what we had these three friendlies for -- to prepare for the tournament, whether it's tactics or set pieces or anything. We're learning to see what works and what doesn't and try to use that in the tournament. We'll debrief the game after a few days off and see what worked."
Kane also had to deal with a horrific tackle courtesy of Portugal's Bruno Alves which saw the defender get a red card.
"It wasn't a great challenge," the Spurs forward laughed. "I've gone in with my head and he's gone with his foot, so he's caught me. It wasn't great but in football it happens."
Alves apologised for the incident following the game, admitting that he was just too late to the ball.
"This is an uncontrolled gesture," said Alves. "I did not want to foul, but I am late. I put too much commitment.
"I am very sorry for what happened. I admit the mistake and assume the consequences. It is important to not repeat it, and I felt the support of all and now we must move on."
