Juventus Defender Leonardo Bonucci Rubbishes Rumours of Man City Move and Reiterates Juve Love

"?Manchester City target Leonardo Bonucci has pledged his allegiance to current team Juventus and insisted he has had no contact with the Eastlands based club.

The defender's future has been shrouded in speculation after reports that Pep Guardiola was considering making a move for the centre back. Manchester City's impressive forward play continues to be undermined by their defensive woes, as they conceded a last minute equaliser at home to Middlesbrough last Saturday.

The result means its now three consecutive league draws at the Etihad for Guardiola's team, as they slip down to third place in the Premier League table.

With City desperate to strengthen their back-line, Bonucci has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester but the Italian has rubbished the rumours, stating he remains loyal to Juventus and has not held any discussions with another team.

He told "?RAI television: "I never called anybody and they never called me personally,

Manchester City haven't called me to join and I never asked for a move there, insists Leonardo Bonucci #MCFC https://t.co/KZyukbNS9a

"I feel I have the Juve shirt sewn to my body because I breathe it every day, but wearing the national team shirt is also an honour. There is nothing better than feeling you are a player that youngsters look up to. I like being this and giving 100 percent when I wear this shirt.

"I feel like I am at a turning point in my career now. Anybody can have one or two great years but it is now up to me to continue this. I will give all I have got to improve my qualities and be important for Juve and for the national team."

Bonucci also defended his controversial goal celebration which has received widespread criticism. The defender's routine effectively tells rival supporters to wash their mouths out with soap; an obvious reaction to both Bonucci and his team's critics.

Whilst he has been condemned for unsporting behaviour, the Italian insists he is simply showing his commitment to Juventus.

"When you take to the field, you fight for the shirt that you are wearing, and Juve have always been my dream. I always supported them.

"There are episodes in your life which mature you and put things into the right perspective, but when I am on the field, I do my job and it doesn't matter if people don't like me because those who know me off the field, the Juve fans, know what sort of a person I am."
