"?Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has decided not to pursue Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic as he continues his search for summer reinforcements.
Subotic played under Klopp at both Mainz and Dortmund and had been linked recently to a reunion with his former boss at Anfield.
However, according to the Daily Star Sunday, Subotic will not be a Liverpool player but has held talks with Stoke City and Sunderland over a potential move to the Premier League.
Subotic is available for a cut-price fee after making just 11 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions last season.
The Serbian centre-half formed an excellent defensive partnership with fellow outgoing team-mate Mats Hummels back when Dortmund won the Bundesliga in 2011 and 2012, but injuries have seen him fall behind Papastathopoulos in the pecking order.
Subotic spoke about his future recently, saying: "I have been a footballer for 10 years and last season was the first where I got little playing time. I needed some time to accept my new situation.
"We had a phenomenal season and I understand the coach cannot keep everyone happy. But I did not become a footballer to get paid for warming the bench. I want to play. I am a fighter.

"I really appreciate the club, the team and the fans. But we will definitely sit down to discuss my future. I will have to wait and see what the club want and whether that matches my expectations. You have to be open if that's not the case.
"But we are not there just yet. I always have to laugh about transfer rumours a bit. Sometimes it looks like others know more about my plans than I do."
