Jose Callejon Blasts Ex-Napoli Teammate Gonzalo Higuain Over Departure to Serie A Rivals Juventus

"?Napoli's Jose Callejon has fired a shot at Juventus' Gonzalo Higuain by claiming that his club's fans only want "honest and noble" players at the club.

The forward took a pop at his former club team-mate after Higuain's controversial £75m summer transfer to Napoli's Serie A rivals, and Callejon said he does not believe that Napoli's supporters would ever forgive the 29-year-old for the way he left the Stadio San Paolo in an interview with Onda Cero, with quotes transcribed by "?Football Italia.

He said: "Higuain? Before he left Napoli he was all right, then he chose Juve and obviously the fans were not able to accept this. Neapolitans want honest and noble players to wear the blue shirt."

Higuain's departure from Napoli drew criticism from large swathes of the club's fanbase, and also led to goalkeeper Pepe Reina to declare that the Naples-based outfit were "over" the forward following his move to Turin.

Reports on Wednesday linked Napoli with a speculative move for Borussia Dortmund's star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but the Italians were reportedly rebuffed in their advances to make the 27-year-old a replacement for the outgoing Higuain.

Meanwhile, Callejon also revealed the extent of his friendship with Napoli and international colleague Reina.

`The pair have become close friends on and off the pitch ever since Reina completed a 2015 summer move to the club from Bayern Munich, and ex-Real Madrid star Callejon stated that the duo spent a lot of time together both with Napoli and on international duty with Spain.

He continued: "Yes, there are young and cheerful people who want to work. I'm always with Pepe Reina, we are inseparable. Since I arrived I have been sitting next to him and I have not moved. He is the boss!"

The right winger also added that he had no preference over which upcoming international match he featured in, with Spain set to face Macedonia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier before a friendly encounter with England at Wembley.

He added: "If I'm here (with Spain) it is because I'm working well, I'm available to the coach. Wembley is Wembley, but Granada is in my country, it is my home."
