Joe Hart's Italian Job Surprises Former Boss Roberto Mancini as Goalkeeper Completes Torino Switch

"?Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is fully expectant that Joe Hart will succeed at Torino following his season-long loan move, however questions why the Englishman was allowed to leave the Etihad by Pep Guardiola.

"?Mancini's comments with La Stampa were quoted in ESPN, as the Italian shed light on his time managing Hart revealing that City had previously tried to force the goalkeeper through the Etihad exit.

Turning the clock back to the start of the 2010-2011 season, Mancini who recently lost his job at Torino's fellow Serie A side Inter Milan, claimed that Hart was set for stardom after an unspectacular 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

"I remember it clearly, it was our first game of the season in 2010 and his first game in the Premier League, we were playing at Tottenham and it was anything but an exciting game. Joe saved us at least five times. He was still a lad, but I already knew he was going to become great."

Despite instilling faith in his manager, his employers were far from certain of the then 23-year-old's credentials, as they looked to call time on his Manchester City career before it had even begun.

"City wanted to get rid of him, but I kept him. I told the Sheikhs: he's a promising young lad, let's put him to the test again and we can make him get better," claimed Mancini.

The Englishman repaid his boss' trust and played a huge part in the club's first Premier League success in the 2011-2012, going on to become on the best goalkeepers to have donned the Citizens kit.

Fast forward four years and Hart finds himself looking in on life at the Etihad with Willy Cabellero preferred in the opening games of the Guardiola era, whilst Claudio Bravo arrived prior to Hart's move to Italy.

A situation that very few saw occurring, Mancini too has been surprised that the two-time Premier League champion has been allowed to find himself a new club.

"I don't know, but each coach has his own ideas. He will have the chance to redeem himself at Torino.

"In spite of his age, he's going to have the chance to grow further because our coaches here are very good. And then the experience is bound to help him do well," he added.
