Iwobi breaks into top five for chances created in Premier League

New data from WhoScored has highlighted the Premier League’s most creative midfielders this season, placing Alex Iwobi among the standout performers, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

According to the statistics, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes leads the chart with 40 chances created, followed by Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai with 28, Arsenal’s Declan Rice with 27 and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson with 25.

Right behind them is Fulham’s Iwobi who has produced 23 chances, making him the only player from the Cottagers to appear in this elite group.

Iwobi’s creativity has been a key asset for Fulham throughout the campaign. In 15 league appearances this season, the Nigerian midfielder has contributed two goals and two assists but his influence extends far beyond those direct contributions.

His inclusion among the top chance creators in the division underscores his growing importance in Marco Silva’s system.

Since arriving from Everton for €25.7 million two summers ago, Iwobi has steadily become one of Fulham’s most reliable performers.

His progress was evident last season when he delivered his best-ever return in the Premier League with nine goals and six assists across 38 appearances, cementing his reputation as one of the competition’s top attacking midfielders.

His club form continues to shine in contrast to his output with the Super Eagles, further highlighting the level of impact he consistently delivers at domestic level although amidst fans backlash, he plays in a much more attacking role for the Cottagers as compared to his defensive duties at the heart of the pitch for Super Eagles.
