"?Italian super agent Vincenzo Morabito has reportedly claimed that Arsenal made a sensational €90m bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer.

The Gabon international was involved in numerous transfer rumours amongst some of Europe's biggest clubs during the summer window after another scintillating season in the Bundesliga for Dortmund.

The 27-year-old struck 25 times in 31 appearances for the former German champions during the last campaign, and has started this season just as well, scoring 11 goals in nine appearances in the league, making him one of the most deadliest strikers in Europe right now.

However, according to Morabito, via "?IamNaples.it, the forward was on the lists of many European heavyweights, including Serie A club Napoli, but one club that reportedly made a substantial offer were Arsenal, who stumped up almost €100m for his services.

Speaking of the reported bid by the Gunners, Morabito said: "Sometime ago, I called Zork, Dortmund's director of football, to talk about Aubameyang, but the "?no' was absolutely categorical.

"I know that this summer, Arsenal offered €90m for Aubameyang, but Borussia didn't want to hear anything about it."?

The Gunners ended up turning to 27-year-old Lucas Perez from La Liga side Deportivo la Coruna for £17m, however if Wenger really did make a bid for the striker, it would have been one of the most monumental transfer moves of recent times, and surely would have made Arsenal red-hot favourites for the title.
