It's certainly everyone's least favourite part of the season. But some football is better than no football, and with another round of World Cup qualifying group stage matches kicking off on Saturday, we bring you a nifty little round-up of all the action around Europe.
The first four matches of the day saw the Republic of Ireland topple Austria while Georgia came out on top against Moldova.
Croatia hit two against Iceland with no reply, with a Marcelo Brozovic double while Ivan Perisic was shown red three minutes into stoppage time, but it was way too late for the Icelanders to claw their way back.
Goals from Burak Yilmaz and Volkan Sen meant Turkey would claim an easy 2-0 win against Kosovo.
In the later matches, Israel put three past a hapless Albania while Ukraine were able to beat Finland with a solitary goal.
Spain, meanwhile, beat Macedonia quite convincingly. An own goal from Darko Velkovski in the 34th minute set things rolling for the Spaniards, and Vitolo would double the lead early in the second half. Nacho Monreal made it 3-0 six minutes from time with a left-footed shot off Dani Carvajal's cross, and David Silva set Aritz Aduriz up with the fourth.
Italy smashed four in their match as well, scoring all their goals against Liechtenstein in the first half to play out a relaxed second period. They kicked things off with an 11th-minute goal from 22-year-old Torino striker Andrea Belotti, and Ciro Immobile made it 2-0 just one minute later.
Antonio Candreva gave the Italians a 3-0 cushion on 32 minutes, and Belotti capped things off with another trike just before halftime.
Spain and Italy sit atop group G each with 10 points, but with Julen Lopetegui's side leading on goal difference.
Wales did not fare as well, though. Gareth Bale looked to have scored the winner in the 30th minute, but Aleksandar Mitrovic drew scores level after heading Antonio Rukavina's cross past the Welsh keeper with minutes remaining.
