"?Inter Milan are set to pay Manchester City around £12.2m after they effectively agreed to buy Stevan Jovetic.

Inter Milan bought Jovetic off then City boss, Manuel Pellegrini, in July 2015 on an initial 18-month loan deal after an unimpressive stint at City. Now, Inter have activated a clause in his contract to make the deal permanent, report Italian football website "?Calciomercato

During the summer transfer window, Inter tried to sell Jovetic back to Fiorentina, but after that deal collapsed, Inter coach Frank De Boer decided to make use of the player.

Jovetic replaced Ivan Perisic in Sunday's game with Pescara in the 75th minute and this appearance has committed Inter to buying the player, leading them to paying out a hefty sum to his original club.

The Montenegrin international has struggled to make an impact at Inter Milan which also dogged his time at Manchester City.

Inter Milan were committed to buying Jovetic if he made at least one appearance for them in the 2016-17 season, or if by December 2016, Inter were above 17th in the table. As the former has been achieved, Jovetic is set to join the Nerazzuri.

Last season at Inter, Jovetic struggled to make an impact scoring just six goals in Serie A, and has also been cut from Inter's Europa League squad ahead of their first game against Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

Jovetic now hopes to get a run in the Inter side following the sacking of Roberto Mancini last summer, with former Ajax boss Frank De Boer brought in as his replacement.
