Inter Milan Target Two Midfielders as New Owners Look to Create an 'Italian Core'

"?Inter Milan are reportedly looking to sign PSG midfielder Marco Verratti and one of either Sassuolo's Domenico Berardi or Fiorentina's Federico Bernardeschi in the summer.

The Italian giants have already made one signing in the shape of Roberto Galiardini from Atlanta and are already planning to add two more stars to their squad.

"?Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that this is the beginning of a project by Inter's owners, Suning Group, to create an Italian core at the club.

Although reportedly interested in three players, it is Marco Verratti who is top of the list as he is seen as the main piece of the puzzle.

However, any deal for Verratti is not going to be an easy one. The 24-year-old is highly-rated at his current club and is not going to come cheaply.

It is understood that Inter are willing to offer Croatian attacker Ivan Perisic as part of any potential deal for Verratti, however fellow Serie A side Juventus are also keen in signing the Italy international.

With the transfer being predicted to cost around €70-80m, Inter have already opened talks with the French giants in a bid to make sure the deal, if it happens, goes smoothly.

The Suning Group aren't finished there though. With their project of an 'Italian core' being in its early stages they are also looking to obtain the services of Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi.

The 22-year-old is the star man for his current side as well as a regular for the Italy-Under-21 side, so is not likely to come cheap either.

Knowing that there is a chance that both players decide to stay at their current clubs, Inter's owners have lined up Berardi's teammate Francesco Acerbi as a €10m back-up.
