Inter Milan President: Star Trio to Stay at San Siro

Published on: 29 May 2016

"?Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has declared that Mauro Icardi, Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic will not leave the San Siro this summer, with the club intent on strengthening the squad.

Club captain Icardi is a man in demand with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United rumoured to be pursuing the Argentine who hit 16 Serie A goals last season.

Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Perisic, who only moved to Inter last summer from Wolfsburg and Brozovic is a reported target for Atletico Madrid and Roma.

However, Thohir is determined to keep hold of the trio due to their importance to the Nerazzurri.

Perisic scored seven goals and assisted six in Serie A, while Brozovic hit four goals from central midfield and provided five goals for his team mates. "?

ESPN suggests that the club needs to cut down on their expenditure to adhere to financial fair play rules, but Thohiri has poured scorn over the suggestions any one of the three can be sold to comply with regulations.

"They are staying here and people can ask us for them as much as they want, we're not letting them go," Thohir told Corriere Dello Sport.

"We've got a strategy. We want to have 16 players of the same value. They don't necessarily have to be superstars, but we are involved in the league and the Europa League and we're going to need to rotate a lot."

Speaking about Roma's interest in Brozovic, Thohir continued: "I've never heard of an offer from Roma or my friend [Roma president James] Pallotta for Brozovic.

"Brozovic is an important part of our squad. We have to think long and hard before selling any of our players to another club in Serie A because you always risk strengthening one of your rivals.

"Of course we do have to sell one of our forwards."

Inter have been linked with a move for Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, with manager Roberto Mancini keen to link up once more with the powerful Ivory Coast midfielder.

But asked about the move for the former Barcelona player, Thohir admitted, "it depends on financial fair play."
