Influential Bayern Munich Trio to Miss Weekend Fixture vs Ingolstadt After Illness Hits Squad

Published on: 16 September 2016

"?Bayern Munich are set to be without influential trio Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller and David Alaba this weekend for the Bundesliga clash with Ingolstadt at the Allianz Arena after a bout of illness has made its way through the squad.

Lahm was excused from training on Thursday after picking up the bug, with Muller and Alaba now joining the club captain on the sidelines as well.

But while Lahm, Muller and Alaba, who have each started both Bundesliga games so far this season, will be missing, there has been positive news regarding the fitness of a few others.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Carlo Ancelotti was able to confirm that both Arjen Robben and Jerome Boateng have been progressing well following their respective layoffs. Neither will start the Ingolstadt game, but both will be in the matchday squad.

Central defender Mats Hummels has also been passed fit and will play. Ancelotti has equally declared that while he is yet to settle on a starting line-up, Joshua Kimmich will definitely start.

Despite the obvious squad depth that Bayern boast, Muller will certainly be a big miss after his strong start to the season.

The home-grown favourite quickly put a disappointing Euro 2016 behind him to score in the DFL Supercup against Borussia Dortmund in mid-August.

He then registered a hat-trick of assists in the Bundesliga opener against Werder Bremen a week later and scored one of his own against Rostov in the Champions League earlier this week.
