Hull City "?are headed to the Premier League following a 1-0 Championship Playoff-final victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
A 72nd-minute curling effort by Mohamed Diame, from outside of the box, sealed the deal for Steve Bruce's Tigers, who finished in fourth place on the Championship table.
The game, a high-tempo affair from the start, seemed to be headed for a draw despite the end to end action, until Diame's cracker of a shot broke the deadlock.
Sheffield tried their best to hit back, and had a shout for a handball in Hull's box in the dying minutes, but the Tigers would hold on nervously to claim the win which secured their promotion back into the top flight.
"That little bit of quality, to decide a big game, Diame has produced a bit of magic and it's won us the match," Bruce said to Sky Sports after the match.
"We seemed to have so many good chances. Thankfully Diame has come up with a wonder striker and I'm delighted for him.
"I thought we had the better chances - my big players today performed excellently."
